Christmas is a season of happiness, a period where our regular routine stops. We’re happy to take part in celebrations and entertaining evenings. These times are ideal for sharing delicious meals. Taking advantage of this period to recharge our batteries! After all, it is our families and friends, big and small, that help us enjoy this extra special season.
Sharing is caring
We are seeing more often these days, especially during the festive season, that people are helping each other by sharing in the preparation of meals. By doing this, it lightens the load for the cook, and allows others to show off their culinary talents. Whether it is to bring bread and cheese, prepare a big pot of hot vegetable soup, or to make homemade desserts, every helping hand is greatly appreciated.
Enjoy winter vegetables
It’s a wonderful feeling to have a full plate of good food during the holidays! What would you say to filling almost half your plate with winter vegetables? These deliciously colourful vegetables include carrots, beets, turnips, squash, and frozen green peas. If peeling beets is not your thing, steam or cook them in the oven with the peel. Once cooked the peel removes easily under water.
Fruit salad served with a slice of Christmas log
Whether serving it with pecan pie or Christmas log, fruit salad is always a refreshing and healthy dessert to eat. Here is Olivia’s recipe:
